A teacher in Dubai can generally command a salary of around 9,000 – 15,000 AED per month which is the equivalent of around $2,400 to $4,000 completely tax free.

Some schools will even offer discounted or free education for teachers’ children, and as day to day expenses are pretty low, teachers can make big savings while still enjoying everything that Dubai has to offer.

In order to become a teacher in Dubai you must already have qualified as a teacher in your home country. This means that you must have the necessary certificate or license which entitles you to teach in your home region. Although it is not always the case, quite frequently schools in Dubai request that applying teachers have a minimum of two years experience in their home country teaching at the same level or grade or in a relevant subject or discipline.

Contract Lengths

While there are some permanent roles available in Dubai for teachers, most initial contracts are offered for the period of one or two years, usually with the opportunity to renew after this period.

What Types Of Teaching Jobs Are Available In Dubai?

There are teaching jobs available at all levels in Dubai, from posts that are suitable for recently qualified teachers to skilled senior roles for those with considerable qualifications and experience in the field.

There are also roles available at all levels of education, from kindergarten and early year’s positions up to high school or secondary age ranges. Many of the secondary schools teach the International Baccalaureate; however there are also schools which are specialist American or British schools that follow either the American or British standard curriculum.

Hours of Work

Although individual schools may vary their term times or daily hours, in most cases, there are three school terms in Dubai, running from September to June with regular holidays between. The school day usually starts at around 8 am and finishes at around 2:30 pm.
