Making her debut on the afternoon show, the former SM:TV host brought back Wonkey Donkey, the gameshow.
What did you overlook?
When Cat Deeley made her This Morning debut, she pleased the audience.
Fans felt Rylan and the So You Think You Can Dance host formed a fantastic double act as they presented the ITV afternoon show together.
Deeley disclosed that she has presented This Morning before and that she also had a surprise in store for viewers of the classic Saturday morning children’s program SM:TV.
The 47-year-old Deeley has been a part of the This Morning presenting team since Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield departed the show.
Following her and her family’s terrifying experience with an alleged kidnapping plan, Willoughby resigned from the program in recent weeks. In the meanwhile, Schofield quit after having an affair with a male coworker who was younger.
When Deeley appeared on the show, viewers responded quite favorably, with many believing she and Rylan were a fantastic team.
“Ah, it’s lovely to see Cat Deeley presenting with Rylan,” one person commented on social media. #ThisMorning Dream Team.
Others said, “I was shocked to see B***dy Cat Deeley this morning when I dragged myself out of my pit and not Rylan.” It’s great to have a fresh face, and I think she’ll be fine at the serious stuff. She earned her stripes doing live television, too, in my opinion.
Could watch the incredible @catdeeley all day long. Many men from the 1990s will be coming, and it’s well cast.”
“CAT and Ryanan make the ideal duo. Fun, elegant, and well-mannered – I’m thrilled with this!”
“What a treat to have @catdeeley back on morning tv with the fab @Rylan on @thismorning.”
“Alright, halt @ITV this morning; that’s it! The one is @catdeeley! And on Monday through Thursday, @Rylan!”
Deeley expressed her joy at seeing her picture hanging on the wall at This Morning Studios, but she also quipped that she had observed the frame had been set at an odd angle because it had obviously been installed quickly before her arrival.
The addition of cups with the letters ‘C’ and ‘R’ to the This Morning set also delighted her and Rylan.
What else occurred on this morning, Cat Deeley’s first day on the job?
Deeley disclosed that she has hosted This Morning previously.
As she said, “I’ve done it once before.”
She remembered when the late Paul O’Grady guest-hosted the program 20 years ago when Fern Britton and Phillip Schofield were on vacation.
Deeley assisted in honoring the late Cilla Black on her 60th birthday during the show, and O’Grady gave the Blind Date actress an Old Person’s Railcard.
When Deeley was shown a clip, she remarked, “They were two of the loveliest people to work with.”
A former children’s television host revived the classic game Wonkey Donkey, which she used to play on SM:TV alongside Declan Donnelly and Ant McPartlin.
Following the money-winning phone game in the Spin To Win segment, the caller was given the opportunity to play the Wonkey Donkey stand and win an ITV merchandise goody bag filled with “schizzle.”
A little curtain is opened to show an object according to the rules of Wonkey Donkey. The competitor must describe the item in two rhyming terms. For instance, a “wonky donkey” is a donkey with three legs.
Deeley introduced a “funky monkey” that was a gorilla with sunglasses and a guitar.
Subsequently, she expressed her desire to play the game daily throughout her first week on the show.
Fans agreed, writing on social media: “Love to see Wonkey Donkey back! Please keep it, it’s hilarious! Also please keep these 2, they are great together! #thismorning”
“Loving @catdeeley and @Rylan on @thismorning! Please play wonkey donkey everyday “
