The Bear’s debut season ranked among the most profoundly emotional and thought-provoking television of 2022. Richie’s obstinate ways, Carmy’s stress and loss, and Sydney’s big aspirations made The Bear swiftly rise to the top of the TV ratings.
Following an enthusiastic reaction and great viewership, the second season of the show was also a huge success. At the big opening that had us grinning and perspiring like never before, fans witnessed The Original Beef of Chicagoland change into a “next-level spot.”
What better time to review the previous seasons of The Bear than as Season 3 approaches? The primary cast members of The Bear Season 2 are listed here, along with the roles they portray.
The Bear Season 2 cast and characters
The Bear Season 2 cast is led by Jeremy Allen White, with support from Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Ayo Edebiri.
But, like any good kitchen staff, there are a whole host of friendly faces making everything run like clockwork — or not, as the case may be with The Bear.
Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto: Jeremy Allen White
In the film, Jeremy Allen White portrays Carmy, a celebrated chef who continues to struggle with personal issues while taking on new tasks. In order to fully realize the goal he and his brother Michael had together, he transforms the restaurant into The Bear. He sort of finds love as well. However, Carmy had just driven his lover, Claire, away and was stuck inside a refrigerator when we last saw him.
Speaking to Esquire, he said: “We’re trying to build out the restaurant that Carmy has imagined for a long time; he’s turning The Beef into something a bit more elegant. And I think the really interesting thing about Carmy’s arc in Season 2 is that he has the opportunity to get everything that he wanted when we met him, and the question becomes, Is that enough? Is that going to make him happy? Is that going to bring him joy?”
Prior to The Bear, White was well-known for her roles in The Rental, Homecoming, and Shameless as Lip Gallagher. He most recently acted with Zac Efron in one of the year’s greatest films, The Iron Claw.
Richard “Richie” Jerimovich: Ebon Moss-Bachrach
Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays Richie, Carmy’s ‘cousin’ who was friends with his late brother. He wasn’t keen on Carmy’s changes, nor did he appreciate Sydney telling him what to do, but he’s since “admitted Carmy and the restaurant are all he has.”
In Season 2, we see Richie finally realize how much he cares about his craft, and his rendition of Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’ is easily the best part of The Bear soundtrack.
“Richie is very much the soul of the restaurant. He’s the front-facing part. He knows everybody’s name. He’s like community relations,” he told Deadline.
Moss-Bachrach appeared in Andor last year, and he’s also starred in Girls, Netflix’s The Punisher, The Dropout, and No Hard Feelings. Look out for him when the Fantastic Four release date comes around, too, though you may not recognize him as The Thing.

Season 2 sees Sydney really step up and go toe to toe with Carmy. She helps him become a better person, is not afraid to challenge him, and shows just how deeply she cares about cooking.
