Does Instagram notify when you screenshot a story?

Have you ever taken a screenshot of an Instagram Story? If so, you may have wondered if the user is notified when their story is screenshotted.

One of the most well-liked Instagram posting options is Instagram Stories, which allows users to share snippets of their daily life via images and videos outside of their normal feed.

You may always screenshot someone else’s Instagram story to save it and make sure it doesn’t vanish after a day. It’s probable that you won’t want to raise any red flags about saving a duplicate of someone else’s post, though.

Fortunately, Instagram doesn’t work the same way with Instagram Stories as it does with direct messages.

Can you see if someone screenshot your Instagram Story?

Instagram will not notify you if a user has screenshotted your story or post. This means that if you screenshot another user’s post, they won’t be notified.

On the Instagram app, “close friends” are likewise subject to this limitation. Additionally, no one on your list of cultivating close friends will be alerted if you or another user takes a screenshot of their story post.

It is important to remember that different Instagram features have distinct guidelines. It’s advisable to use caution when selecting what to capture on the app, as the recipient will be aware if you attempt to screenshot something transmitted over Vanish Mode, for instance.

While Instagram did test a feature that let users see who screenshotted their story for a limited period of time back in 2018, it’s unclear if they intend to bring it back.

As it stands, however, Instagram does notify users of screenshots over DMs. If someone sends you a disappearing video or photo in your DMs and you screenshot it, the sender will be notified.
