Get ready for what is ahead! Here is all we currently know about Fallout Season 2, including any facts or speculations regarding its release date, as well as narrative, cast, and other suppositions, after its launch on Prime Video.
If you lived in the Fallout timeline, then in only 53 years, America will be covered in ash and turned into a radioactive wasteland, with millions of people killed, abandoned to hunger, or driven to their most primitive impulses. Hopefully, Season 2 will be released before to that.
Premiering on Prime Video recently, the new video game adaption starring Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy from Westworld introduced three new characters to both fans and newcomers: Ella Purnell plays Lucy, an inhabitant of Vault 33 who makes her first foray into the real world; Aaron Moten plays Maximus, a Brotherhood of Steel squire who is determined to get his own power armor; and Walton Goggins plays the Ghoul, a deformed gunslinger and bounty hunter.
All eight episodes are available to stream now, and if you’ve already binged the whole thing, we know you’ll be desperate for Fallout Season 2. Here’s what you should know.
Is Fallout Season 2 happening?
Fallout Season 2 hasn’t been officially green-lit by Amazon — but its renewal is all-but-confirmed, so it’s safe to expect a second season.
We’re quite confident it’s coming back for Season 2, but the reason is pretty boring: as per Deadline, Fallout has received a $25 million tax credit to relocate its set from New York State to California (which makes even more sense, given that’s where the series takes place).
That in and of itself doesn’t necessarily imply it’s happening (though it does signal approval, at least from inside), but Nolan and company are quietly optimistic that they’ll revisit the wasteland for a follow-up.
Although we’ve had some pretty interesting discussions about it, we’re focusing on one fantastic television season right now. We’ll be performing in the same venue, albeit maybe not with the same components, if enough people find it enjoyable and we’re fortunate enough to receive the chance to go again, Nolan told TechRadar.
Graham Wagner, the show’s co-writer alongside Geneva Roberston-Dworet, also revealed to Collider that they’ve signed “overall deals”, and work has already begun on the second season.
Is there a Fallout Season 2 release date?
No, Fallout Season 2 doesn’t have a release date right now — however, all things going well, it wouldn’t be out of the question to expect it in 2025, but a 2026 release is also possible.
It’s worth bearing in mind that Fallout’s first season began filming in July 2022, so it wasn’t necessarily a quick turnaround from production to the show’s release. However, Wagner hinted there are plans in place for reasonable gaps between seasons, rather than repeating the two-and-a-half-year wait between Invincible Seasons 1 and 2.
“We finished Season 1 and went to work on Season 2 in the hopes that Amazon would show interest and that the gap would close. Because it’s a strange inclination to leave somebody hanging for two years. I found the season finale cliffhangers of [Star Trek: The Next Generation] to be so unbearable as a spectator. I was obsessed about those. However, those were some of my favorite TV-related moments. Therefore, it is true that we are working to close the gap. 100%,” Wagner remarked.
Wagner emphasized that “anything might happen,” but he also said, “We simply need to recruit writers, create the episodes, and film the episodes at this moment. We’re prepared to depart, but there are many choices to be made. Both the show and the investment are substantial. Given the magnitude of the project, I believe Amazon wants to be certain they want to produce a second season before covering all costs.
Fallout Season 2 cast: Who’d be in it?
While unconfirmed, we’d expect the Fallout Season 2 cast to include:
- Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean
- Aaron Moten as Maximus
- Walton Goggins as The Ghoul / Cooper Howard
- Kyle MacLachlan as Hank MacLean
- Moisés Arias as Norm
- Leslie Uggams as Betty
- Zach Cherry as Woody
“It’s extremely faithful to the video game IP, but it really is different,” stated Moten in a news statement. As the program is finally something I haven’t seen [before], I hope that viewers will experience the same sense of delight that I have.
Purnell is eager to go back as well. She has transformed by the conclusion of the season. And I guess I’m eager to investigate two areas: First of all, will Lucy ever be the same again? Is it possible for her to return to the vault at all? Similar to the red pill versus blue pill debate, is it ever possible to unsee something after you’ve seen it?
The second is that her moral goodness seems to be eroding and I believe her heart has been broken. I don’t know if she will be alright or if she will ever be the Lucy we knew, since she has had to perform unimaginable things. What happens if the unbreakable is broken? I believe that’s when something truly hazardous happens. I still have a ton of questions!
Fallout Season 2 plot: What would it be about?
Plot details for Fallout Season 2 haven’t been revealed, and it’s too early to openly speculate about what will happen (we don’t want to spoil it for anyone!).
Nevertheless, Nolan claimed there are many ideas for where the second season may lead fans in an interview with The Direct. “I believe that in the unlikely event that you receive a second season, you should always prepare a plan of attack. We have discussed potential directions for this since the beginning; all I ask is that folks find it enjoyable and give it a go,” he remarked.
Therefore, you don’t want to make a cheap copy of a beloved game feature—be it a faction or a creature—and then, you know, completely skip over it by include it in Season 1 for an excessively short time. We thus have a lot of things we want to do in next seasons.
