The Blue Exorcist anime’s official website summarizes the Shimane Illuminati Saga as follows: “After the Impure King’s resurrection in Kyoto, Rin and his friends defeated him and went back to True Cross Academy to resume their regular lives.”
But as a wave of bizarre happenings sweeps the globe, the Knights of the True Cross start to receive an increasing number of consultations regarding demons. As this is going on, Rin and the other Exwires are trying to figure out what’s causing this strange thing at the school.
But just as the True Cross Academy Festival is getting underway, Lucifer—the Illuminati’s Commander-in-Chief and King of Light—appears out of nowhere. In an attempt to revive the demon deity Satan and bring Assiah and Gehenna back together, Lucifer vows war on the Knights of the True Cross. He justifies this by saying that Izumo is required for a certain “plan.”
