Given that the first trailer for “Inside Out 2” has surfaced, I suppose Pixar fans are working very hard to feel joy.
The animated coming-of-age movie “Inside Out” from 2015 has a follow-up called “Inside Out 2.” With a star-studded ensemble led by Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader, Anger, and Fear, the first movie focused on 11-year-old Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) and the five emotions in her brain. The frayed, orange emotion of anxiety is featured in the sequel teaser.
Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling aren’t reprising their roles as Fear and Disgust in the follow-up due to rumored compensation issues. Tony Hale and Liza Lapira, in that order, have taken their places.
Riley in “Inside Out” finds it difficult to adapt to her new environment after migrating from Minnesota to San Francisco. She experiences severe emotional difficulties and finally runs the risk of losing not only her friends but her entire family due to the upheaval of growing up.
In “Inside Out,” Joy and Sadness go on a mental journey with Riley, where they must cooperate to help Riley adjust to her new surroundings and deal with the range of emotions she is experiencing.
When it was initially released, “Inside Out” won the 2016 Academy Award for best animated picture and was praised by both reviewers and viewers.
The sequel was initially revealed at Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022. Meg LeFauve, who co-wrote the previous movie, also writes the sequel, which is directed by Kelsey Mann.
On June 14, 2024, some nine years after the original movie’s debut, “Inside Out 2” is scheduled to hit theaters.
