Eiichiro Oda’s highly-anticipated Monsters anime is almost here – so here’s what time it will drop on Netflix and be available to stream.
Before the manga was officially published, One Piece creator Oda published a number of one-shots. These were then collected as the five-story “Wanted!” collection. Ryuma Shimotsuki, the famed swordsman, is the subject of one of these tales.
In the country of Wano, his reputation endures to this day, dating back almost 400 years. An original net animation with the title “Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation” was revealed in July 2023.
The anime adaptation, which is helmed by Sunghoo Park, is scheduled to have its world premiere on January 21. Director Park founded the anime’s production company, E&H Production. This is the precise time when the Monsters anime will become streaming on Netflix.

Monsters official trailer and plot
For those who don’t know, the Monsters anime is a canonical side tale that chronicles the 400 years that Wano saw the making of history. Fans of One Piece will at last discover the mythology of Ryuma’s dragon-slaying.
The Monsters anime will recreate the tale and backstory of Shimotsuki Ryuma, based on Oda’s one-shot. He is the progenitor of Roronoa Zoro, who is credited with slaying a dragon. According to Eiichiro Oda in SBS Volume 247, “The character appearing in Chapter 450 is indeed Ryuma, despite being a zombie.”
The main character in the short novella MONSTERS is a samurai. However, he is a great fighter in the One Piece universe who has already departed from this life due to sickness and left his mark on history.
The official summary provided by Netflix states: “A waitress whose homeland was devastated by a dragon crosses the path of a warrior. Even if he doesn’t desire problems, it finds them anyhow.
