The Blue Exorcist anime’s official website summarizes the Shimane Illuminati Saga as follows: “After the Impure King’s resurrection in Kyoto, Rin and his friends defeated him and went back to True Cross Academy to resume their regular lives.”
However, as a wave of bizarre incidents starts to sweep over the world, the Knights of the True Cross start to receive an increasing number of consultations regarding demons. As this is going on, Rin and the other Exwires are trying to figure out what’s causing this strange thing at the school.
“But as the True Cross Academy Festival is in full swing, Lucifer, the King of Light and Commander-in-Chief of the Illuminati, suddenly appears. Lucifer declares war on the Knights of the True Cross—to resurrect the demon god Satan and rejoin the realm of humans, Assiah, and the realm of demons, Gehenna, as one. To do so, he states that Izumo is necessary for a certain “plan.”
