House of the Dragon Season 2: Release date, cast & trailers

The Dance has begun and it’s time to choose between Team Black and Team Green. Here’s the House of the Dragon Season 2 release date, who’s returning in its cast, and plot details.

Although Season 9 of Game of Thrones will never happen, we don’t need it in light of House of the Dragon’s phenomenal success in Season 1.

The looming civil war cannot be stopped by Alicent’s letter to Rhaenyra. Great news for fans of House of the Dragon, but bad news for Westeros.

An unnecessary conflict is about to break out as a result of the explosive rupture between Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower following the events in House of the Dragon Episode 10.

House of the Dragon Season 2 release date

House of the Dragon Season 2 will premiere on June 16, 2024.

Filming will begin on April 11, 2024, with development beginning in August 2022. House of the Dragon was not affected by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which caused several high-profile productions to cease their development.

House of the Dragon Season 2 plot

House of the Dragon Season 2’s plot is the Dance of the Dragons, a civil war.

In Season1, Rhaenyra was crowned by her supporters, but Alicent claimed the throne for her son, Aegon II. Rhaenyra’s middle son was eventually killed by the acts of people around them, despite the two former kindred spirits’ best efforts to prevent violence via diplomacy.

The time for discussion is over, for Rhaenyra is in a state of angry anguish.

The contest to become the next Tartaren king or queen is turning into a bloody civil war between the two factions. In the extensive lore of Game of Thrones, this is referred to as the Dance of the Dragons. While at war, Team Green and Team Black will attempt to conquer various regions of the kingdom.

Season 2 will also, in some capacity, adapt the rather horrendous Blood and Cheese events from the book. Don’t read up on that if you want to go in blind, though.
