Fans of the popular series are hoping for a shorter wait between Seasons 2 and 3 thanks to Invincible actor Steven Yeun.
The second half of Amazon Prime Video’s critically acclaimed original series, Invincible, is returning to viewers after a nearly five-month hiatus.
When it was announced at the midseason finale in November that Mark Grayson, a.k.a. Invincible, was assigned to get Earth ready for the vicious Viltrumite invasion, fans were gripped by suspense.
Many fans are disappointed that they might not see these characters for a time after the season finishes because there was a two-year lapse between Season 1 and Season 2, even though Season 2 Part 2 will probably witness the resolution of this dispute. However, actor Steven Yeun has disclosed that a third season may air sooner than anticipated.
Yeun credits backlogged episodes for a speedy Season 3
The actor recently sat down with Collider ahead of Season 2’s March 14 premiere where he divulged how the Invincible team was hoping to bring fans Season 3 very soon.
We are aware that this major hiatus was not enjoyable for us. Yeun said, “We’ve been working hard to finish a lot of backlog because we want to timing this animation stuff right. We have thus been working. We are aware of the events since we are banking on episodes.
Global limits and the time it takes to perfect the animation presented many challenges for the Invincible team as they attempted to make their much awaited second season, but it appears that they didn’t anticipate similar problems with Season 3.
Yeun’s remarks are not the first time a show cast member has mentioned how Seasons 2 and 3 would be more intimate.
A few fans disagreed with creator Robert Kirkman’s statement that he wanted to “try and get it as close to a season a year as we possibly can” because they didn’t want animators to work too much. The two years between Seasons 1 and 2 will be the longest hiatus the program has ever had, so at least Invincible fans can feel secure in that.
