The release date of the anime’s fifth season was postponed by Kingdom to January 13. On January 6, the season was supposed to premiere on NHK, the national broadcaster of Japan. Over 100 people were killed in an earthquake of magnitude 7.5 that struck Japan recently; the official cause of the earthquake was not disclosed.
The fifth season is being directed by Kenichi Imaizumi, while Noboru Takagiwa is composing the show. Character designs are once again attributed to Hisashi Abe. The soundtrack is being composed by Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano. Kingdom Season 5 is being animated by Studio Pierrot and Signpost, who previously worked on the fourth season. “Douka” by DeNeeL and “Rulers” by Nove Core are two examples of theme music.
Yasuhisa Hara’s shounen manga, which began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2006, served as the inspiration for Kingdom. 2012 saw the release of Pierrot and IKIF+’s anime adaptation. For the second and third seasons, Pierrot provided animation, and St. Signpost joined him. The COVID-19 pandemic caused a one-year delay in the release of the third season of Kingdom; despite the show’s April 2020 launch, only four episodes were broadcast before lockdowns began to interfere with the production schedule. April 2022 saw the return of the third season, which was followed by the fourth in April 2022.
Despite being a popular and long-running series, the manga has not yet received an English license. Crunchyroll offers the series for streaming, with the following storyline summary:
In the realm of Qin, Shin and Hyou are orphans of battle. They want to prove themselves in combat till the day a minister kidnaps Hyou. The young guy is severely hurt, but he escapes and makes it back to his hometown. Then Shin encounters a fascinating young man who looks a lot like Hyou—a youngster who will grow up to be emperor!
