The first episode of Solo Leveling presents “God,” a terrible force. Please be patient as we go further if you’re curious about this supernatural being’s precise identity.
One of the most important things the industry has given us is solo-leveling manhwa. Upon the release of the anime, viewers were unable to get the fast-paced events seen in the first two episodes out of their minds.
The series’ primary protagonist, Sung Jin-Woo, initially doesn’t seem to be the major character. Rather, he starts off as the least powerful character. But when a strange force selects Jin-Woo to be its vessel, everything changes for him.
In the future, the show will undoubtedly uncover more enigmatic figures, but for now, everyone is curious to find out more about the God who was so important to the first two episodes.
How does the ‘God’ entity come into the picture?
Solo Leveling Episode 1 sees the hunters heading toward a D-Rank dungeon that seems “not so deadly” to anyone. However, within minutes after entering the dungeon, every hunter realizes that they shouldn’t take this mission lightly. The Hunters, including Jin-Woo, arrive at a place where they see several big statues holding different tools in their hands. For instance, some statues held musical instruments, while others held weapons.
Joohee, the B-Rank healer, soon detects that something is off at the location as she turns around and notices that the largest statue’s eyes are moving. Jin-Woo does not think of the healer when she warns him of the same. The E-Rank hunter senses that the temperature has dropped significantly since they entered the dungeon, though. A couple hunters discovered some laws etched on the walls as they were investigating the area. It seems that everyone is taught that these guidelines are “God’s” commands.
Abruptly, the door closes, and when one of the hunters attempts to get out, a statue kills him. That’s when everyone discovers they are about to endure a near-death experience in the dungeon. The statues begin to kill a number of hunters. Deciphering the divine instructions, Jin-Woo aids his fellow hunters in surviving the entire experience. When no one listens to him, Jin-Woo finally makes the decision to give his life in order to save the others—especially Joohe.
When the episode ends, we see “Courage of the Weak” written on the screen. It confirms that God has granted the ‘System’ to Jin-Woo. That’s how this ‘God’ entity becomes relevant to Jin-Woo’s journey. So, who exactly who is he?
The Statue Of God Explained
The Architect’s puppet, the statue, bestows upon Sung Jin-Woo the ability to control “The System.” A mysterious entity known as the Architect consents to help Ashborn, the Shadow Monarch, locate a human host.
The Absolute Being is replicated in the statue that Jin-Woo sees in the dungeon. Every person who enters this dungeon is put to the test by this statue, who acts at the architect’s command. The architect has examined many people over the years in an effort to locate Ashborn the ideal vessel. Eventually, he finds Jin-Woo, who passes all of the architect’s exams.
Who is the Absolute Being and Ashborn?
Absolute Being is the vital force that created monarchs out of the darkness and rulers out of the light when only these two elements existed. The former were created to destroy the entire human race, while the latter were created so that they could save humanity. To be precise, despite being a god, the Absolute Being was a self-centered individual who did everything for his entertainment.
However, when the Rulers arrived, seeking great power to remove the monarchs, the Absolute Being didn’t even answer. The Absolute Being was content with the turmoil surrounding him, and the Rulers realized that he did not want the conflict to stop. They also understand that unless they figure out a means to take down the Absolute Being, things will only get worse. Thus, all of the Rulers—aside from Ashborn—decide to murder the “God” in order to stop the carnage.
Ashborn, the strongest of all, attempted, but was unable, to resist members of his own species. After Absolute Being is slain by the Rulers, Ashborn, the Shadow Monarch, is raised to life and discovers God’s corpse, albeit not in excellent condition, on the throne.
So, you could say that Jin-Woo is the Absolute Being’s chosen warrior, who eventually becomes Ashborn’s vessel to fight on God’s behalf. Obviously, Jin-Woo doesn’t know about any of this, but eventually, he’ll be made aware of everything by Ashborn himself.
