Following its excellent ratings from Netflix users, fans of Blue Eye Samurai are eagerly anticipating the release of a second season. This is all the information we currently have on Season 2, including the cast, release date, and storyline.
In 2023, as Netflix expanded and pushed the limits of its initial animated releases, they released a never-ending tide of anime successes.
From reimagining beloved American movies like Scott Pilgrim to bringing beloved Japanese comics to life with Pluto, the streaming platform’s latest anime releases have become enormously successful.
That was also the case with Blue Eye Samurai, which quickly earned a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes and won over many fans. Among them was the renowned storyteller Hideo Kojima, who praised the program and declared it to be the finest anime of the year on many occasions.
It was written by Michael Green and his wife Amber Noizumi, who also authored the scripts for Blade Runner 2049 and Logan. In its first eight episodes, Blue Eye Samurai presented itself to Netflix fans by following a master swordsman of mixed races on a bloody quest for vengeance.
Blue Eye Samurai’s popularity has soon left fans eager for more, so here’s everything we know about Blue Eye Samurai Season 2.
Will there be a Blue Eye Samurai Season 2?
In December 2023, just a month after the first season’s release, Netflix confirmed that Blue Eye Samurai was renewed for Season 2.
“Mizu’s (Maya Erskine) quest for vengeance is far from over,” they declared. In Season 2, Blue Eye Samurai’s hero will keep seeking justice and will do so quickly.
Considering the positive reviews the program has received, the news is not shocking at all. However, one question is whether or not the show will receive more seasons to complete the story that Season 1 began.
The program may require a few more seasons to wind things up, given the first season concentrates just on one of the three guys the protagonist is pursuing. And it seems like the developers had it in mind all along.
Michael Green and Amber Noizumi discussed their future goals with Screen Rant just before the premiere of the program. The power couple said that the tale they have in mind would take place over “at least three, four seasons,” claiming that “Season 2 has an approved outline.”
Not only that, but they also have an eye on a potential spinoff involving Ringo as the lead character.
Is there a Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 release date?
As of December 2023, Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 has no official release date.
While Netflix has confirmed that it will be coming back, the show’s first season dropped three years after it initially announced it was in production, so it could be at least a year or more yet.

Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 plot: What will it be about?
According to Jane Wu, the anime’s director and producer, she shared more details on the sequel in an interview with Variety.
Wu has alluded to that the Season will carry on with a focus surrounding London: “Story-wise, I can’t clearly say what we’re expecting in Season 2, because I don’t have the script in hand, but I do think we will probably explore London and how much of London is really depending on the budget and the schedule.”
Though it was left somewhat open at the end of Season 1, the storyline is undoubtedly far from done, with numerous possible directions to explore in subsequent seasons.
Mizu appears to be leaving for London after sparring the primary antagonist Abijah Fowler; yet, since we know that Fowler and Mizu will eventually meet paths again, she appears to be searching for the other traffickers, Skeffington and Routey.
