Deadpool & Wolverine: Release date, trailer, cast

The most anticipated MCU film of 2024 is Deadpool & Wolverine. Here are all the juicy information about this superhero team-up, including the Deadpool 3 release date, trailer, cast, and plot.

Finally, the MCU will see the return of the sweary, aggressive, fourth-wall breaching Merc with a Mouth.

Wade Wilson’s chronology and the X-Men filmography will intersect, and some of the most memorable characters from the former—including Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine—will undoubtedly show up.

We have a ton of power songs to sing along with many Deadpool and Wolverine Easter eggs leading up to the next film.

What’s the Deadpool & Wolverine release date?

The Deadpool & Wolverine release date is Friday, July 26, 2024.

The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year forced a halt to production, but it restarted in November 2023 and was completed in January 2024.

Originally scheduled for release on September 6, 2023, and then on November 8, Disney has rescheduled a number of the dates for its next Marvel films.

Is there a Deadpool & Wolverine trailer?

The first teaser trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine dropped during the 2024 Super Bowl on February 11, 2024, and the full trailer was released on April 22, 2024.

The whole Deadpool 3 teaser was far more Wolverine-focused, making references to Logan from 2017, revealing his entire vintage outfit, and offering us a sneak peek at Wade and him as a couple.

It seems that folks were let down by this version of Wolverine. Despite this, Wade is resolute in seeking his assistance, and thus the collaboration begins. Everyone must stand alone in the mystery that is life, until Deadpool pushes his way into yours.

In the teaser trailer, Wade Wilson calls himself “Marvel Jesus”, references Disney, and is even tracked down by the TVA, an organization that has only appeared in the Loki TV series thus far.

The footage also revealed just how closely connected the Merc with a Mouth will now be to the greater MCU timeline.

Deadpool & Wolverine cast

Ryan Reynolds is reprising his role as Wade Wilson for Deadpool 3, and (as you’ve probably guessed by the title) he’ll be joined by Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

Baccarin has been in every Deadpool movie so far.

The Deadpool 3 cast:

  • Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool
  • Hugh Jackman as Wolverine
  • Morena Baccarin as Vanessa
  • Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox
  • Owen Wilson as Mobius
  • Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova
  • Karam Soni as Dopinder
  • Leslie Uggams as Blind Al
  • Stefan Kapicic as Colossus
  • Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead
  • Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio
  • Rob Delaney as Peter
  • Jennifer Garner as Elektra

Reynolds is joined by Morena Baccarin, who played Wade’s endearing and humorous wife Vanessa in the first two Deadpool films.

Returning as Dopinder and Blind Al are Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams. In addition to Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio and Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapicic is back as Colossus. Another well-known figure appeared in the teaser: Rob Delaney, reprising his role as Peter, an X-Force member.

Emma Corrin of The Crown, who will portray the antagonist Cassia Nova, is one noteworthy addition.

Thanks to Jennifer Garner, who portrayed Elektra in the early 2000s, the character will be participating. Unverified speculations suggest that Ben Affleck’s Daredevil and Channing Tatum’s Gambit may accompany her.

Given that Mobius (Owen Wilson) has long been an adversary of the TVA, his little role may also hint at Cable’s impending debut.

When asked if Mobius’s good buddy Loki (Tom Hiddleston) might appear in the upcoming film, he played it coy. He remarked, “I don’t know, and if I did… I might not be allowed to tell you.” “Marvel appropriately guards their information.”

Matthew Macfadyen’s character Paradox from Succession seems to be the primary TVA agent. He plays a significant role in the teaser and may serve as Wade’s secondary adversary, making things tough for the anti-hero until Cassandra appears and stirs up even more mayhem.

Zazie Beetz will not return as Domino, despite the actor stating that they were open to reappearing. Beetz said [via ScreenRant], “I am crossing my fingers, hoping that Domino will be a part of this and if not, that’s also all good. But it’s just such a great crew, such a great team. I just love Deadpool. If it’s not this, maybe I’ll do my own Domino origins or something like that.”

Finally, there’s talk of Daniel Radcliffe appearing in a secret cameo, though that is pure speculation. Could he finally make those fan-casting dreams come true by playing a variant of Wolverine — Patch, perhaps?

Deadpool & Wolverine plot

Deadpool & Wolverine will see the Merc with a Mouth crashing through different timelines and finding himself in the MCU, with a little help from Wolverine.

Deadpool and Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Wade discovers Logan holed up at a pub.

To begin with, Deadpool will be completely incorporated into the MCU. The anti-hero will be recruited by the TVA from the Loki Disney+ series in order to assist maintain harmony inside the cinematic universe.

If you’re wondering how Wolverine is still alive, know that he is a variation and not the one we saw in Logan or the X-Men in the 2000s.

The masked assassin creates all kinds of deadly devastation, and many fans think the movie will be a loose copy of the “Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe” plot, with Owen Wilson’s Mobius and the TVA chasing him through many realities.

Is Deadpool & Wolverine R-rated?

Despite Deadpool now falling under the Disney umbrella, Deadpool 3 will be R-rated and won’t need to dial anything back.

This is a version of Logan we haven’t met.

Shawn Levy told Deadline, “Our movie is raw, audacious, very much R-rated. We went to great lengths to not shoot it on soundstages with digital environments. The internet has proven that by revealing pictures of our shoot.”

“But no, we wanted something that felt grounded and real. You put Hugh Jackman in his most iconic character alongside Ryan Reynolds in his most iconic character, I would say it’s more a descendant of Midnight Run, 48 Hours, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles than it is a descendant of Airplane.”

The film’s running time is 127 minutes, or 2 hours and 7 minutes, according to AMC Theaters’ listing.

Will Deadpool & Wolverine be on Disney Plus?

Deadpool & Wolverine will be released exclusively in theaters at first, but it will be on Disney Plus months later.

The streaming release will all depend on how financially successful the third movie is at the box office, but it’ll likely be at least a couple of months before it lands on Disney+.

Before that, you’ll find it available to rent or buy digitally shortly after it leaves theaters.
