One of the most watched shounen anime series ever is Naruto. The series has cemented its place in anime history with its robust narratives and large ensemble of characters. But with the lengthy cast list, we have to ask ourselves, who is Naruto’s greatest character?
Masashi Kishimoto’s masterpiece, Naruto, was first released in 1999 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump. The series found an overwhelmingly positive response, even more so after it got its anime adaptation in 2002 by Pierrot. The first part of the anime ended in 2007 before the second part, titled Naruto Shippuden, premiered in the same year.
Despite being two of the greatest anime series ever, Naruto and Naruto Shippuden are also infamous for their filler episodes. Even years after the anime’s end, viewers will still remember it with fondness thanks to the high caliber of the narrative.
There are strong characters in Naruto with a range of unique skills. Selecting the strongest option amongst such a large choices is a difficult challenge. However, in Naruto, there is only one character that can be said to be the strongest.
Who is the strongest in Naruto?
The strongest character in Naruto is Kaguya Otsutsuki. She was revealed to be the true antagonist of the story in the last part of the Fourth Shinobi World War. It took the combined effort of the original Team 7 to defeat her.
Kaguya belongs to the Otsutsuki Clan, an alien clan. She arrived on Earth and ate the fruit of the God Tree, making her the first person to wield a chakra. Kaguya earned the title “mother of chakra” as she was the first to wield one. Eventually, her sons, Hagoromo and Homura, inherited her chakra.
Jealous of the abilities they inherited from her, Kaguya merged with the God Tree’s ten-tailed form and fought her children. She was ultimately sealed by her sons.
What powers does Kaguya Otsutsuki have?
As an Otsutsuki and the progenitor of chakra, Kaguya is immensely powerful — she has an extensive chakra reserve and can use all five basic chakra natures as well as Yin-Yang Release. Her abilities range from unparalleled regeneration to being able to absorb chakra.
Kaguya also possesses Byakugan and Rinne-Sharingan, two of the greatest doujutsu. She has 360° X-ray vision thanks to Byakugan, yet she can instantly teleport between dimensions thanks to Rinne-Sharingan.
Kaguya’s bond with the God Tree is what gives her her real power. Once she was freed from her seal, Kaguya used her connection to the God Tree to absorb the shinobi’s chakra and fortify herself even more inside the Infinite Tsukuyomi. She may also fuse with the tree to become the Ten-tails’ jinchuriki in an emergency.
Kaguya has access to the Truth Seeking Balls, which are created entirely of chakra, thanks to her position as the Ten-tails’ jinchuriki. Madara and Obito’s Truth Seeking Balls are not quite as powerful as Kaguya’s.
Kaguya’s status as the strongest character in Naruto never wavered. Until the end of the series, no other character could defeat her alone. Just like it took the combined power of Hagoromo and Homura to seal her, Naruto and Sasuke also had to merge their strengths to defeat the mother of chakra.
