The first glimpse of Joker 2 has been revealed thanks to its teaser drop, leaving fans already confused about what’s to come.
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga’s Joker 2 is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and the excitement among fans has reached a whole new level. Fans were given their first teaser ahead of the full trailer, which was published on April 9 and has left many of them perplexed already.
In the video, Joker is shown standing outdoors in what seems to be Arkham Asylum’s jail courtyard, laughing and sobbing in the pouring rain. Fans have immediately compared the music to Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory’s Pure Imagination, despite the fact that no specifics have been mentioned yet.
Is this just my imagination, too? A follower confirmed that the Jackie DeShannon song “‘What the World Needs Now is Love’ key playing is nice” in a post on X/Twitter.
Although there is still a lot of debate over whether Joker 2 is a musical or not, the teaser’s release indicates that fans are enthusiastic about the soundtracked follow-up.
A third fan said, “I already predict Joaquin Phoenix will win another Oscar based on this short clip,” while a fourth concurred, calling it “another Joaquin Phoenix masterclass.”
“Joaquin Phoenix is undeniably among the greatest performers of our generation. want to watch Gaga perform with him,” a fifth person said.
However, there are some fans who are concerned about where Joker‘s story goes next, with Phoenix’s take on the character a far cry from the likes of Heath Ledger and Jared Leto.
“Stop humanizing the Joker lol I need that burning money, unforgivable choices, ima fuck yah life up joker,” one fan disagreed.
The full trailer for Joker 2 is set to be released on April 9 at 6:30PM PT.
