Although the early conclusion of Yellowstone has hurt fans of Taylor Sheridan, there are still a lot of exciting things in store. Sheridan has succeeded in giving spectators the greatest ranch opera since Dallas because of his commitment to the impossibility and ability to keep viewers interested in loose ends of the story.
There is yet more to come, and not all of it is connected to the Duttons. While Sheridan’s most recent series, Landman, will travel from Montana to Texas to follow the expanding oil sector, there are still more Yellowstone spinoffs in the works, including 6666 and 2024.
There’s already plenty of hype for the new Paramount series, so here’s what you need to know about the Landman release date, cast, plot, and more.
Landman: Is there a release date?
There’s no confirmed release date for Landman yet, but it’s likely the show will come out in late 2024 or early 2025.
Paramount hasn’t yet revealed where Landman sits on its slate of upcoming projects. But given how Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 is premiering in November 2024, we imagine that Landman would follow later in the year.
Either that, or it could be one of the first shows they put out in 2025. Either way, filming began back in early February, meaning things are well in motion.
What is Landman about?
Landman will be set in West Texas and follow the Norris family as they navigate the politics of the oil rig industry.
The show is based on the 2019 Boomtown podcast, an 11-part series that hit number one on the streaming charts. The podcast covered environmental issues and explored the 21st century Texas oil boom, which is the same thread the Landman TV show will follow.
The official synopsis for the Taylor Sheridan series is: “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”
Though there’s not much detail about the characters yet, it’s clear that the on-screen Norris family will play a big role based on the casting.
Who’s in the Landman cast?
The Landman cast already has a few famous faces, including Billy Bob Thornton starring as Tommy Norris. He’s set to lead, and there are quite a few other big names, too.

Most recently, Jon Hamm was added to the cast as Monty Miller. According to Variety, Miller is “a titan of the Texas oil industry who has a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy Norris (Thornton).”
Being a Taylor Sheridan venture, Yellowstone cast members will turn up, too. Michelle Randolph has stepped out of 1923 to play Ainsley Norris, Tommy’s daughter, while Jason Jackson (from Yellowstone and 1883), will be joining in an undisclosed role.
