Twisted Metal Season 2: All we know

Given that Twisted Metal Season 1 was among the finest video game adaptations, the renewal of the program is not surprising. Thus, this concludes our knowledge of Twisted Metal Season 2.

The combat computer game franchise was adapted into Twisted Metal, which debuted last year and is, to put it mildly, a fever dream with vivid colors.

This epic television series, starring Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz, centers on an amnesic man who journeys across a post-apocalyptic wasteland carrying an enigmatic box.

Naturally, fans demanded more after the highly acclaimed series premiere. Here is everything we currently know about Twisted Metal Season 2.

Is there a Twisted Metal Season 2 release date?

Twisted Metal Season 2 has no official release date yet—we expect it to arrive at some point in 2025.

In December 2023, Twisted Metal’s second season was renewed. Showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith stated, “The [writers’] room has started,” in an interview with NBC Insider at the time. Our writing crew is outstanding. Taking a broad view, we are talking about the season’s storyline and possible topics for the first episode. I am ecstatic.

It is unlikely that Season 2 will air until the following year because there is still work to be done on casting, filming, and editing.

Who might be in the Twisted Metal Season 2 cast?

We can expect all of the main players to return to the Twisted Metal cast for Season 2, and they’ll be led by Anthony Mackie once more.

Here are all the actors we expect to be in the Twisted Metal Season 2 cast:

  • Anthony Mackie as John Doe
  • Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet
  • Samoa Joe as Sweet Tooth
  • Will Arnett as Sweet Tooth’s voice

We can also expect to see some of the iconic characters from the video games making their small screen debut in Season 2, with Smith telling NBC Insider the team has a “really cool” direction for Dollface and the arrival of Mr. Grimm.

“Grimm is my favorite, and I’m excited to capture what the fans are excited about seeing,” the showrunner said, adding that he was also eager to address the issue of “How does he exist in the world we’ve set up?” I believe that getting to know him will be a lot of fun. What type of person is he in this world, and how does he relate to individuals like Sweet Tooth?

Smith also wants to give Calypso and Axel their on-screen moments, saying: “We have to get Axel right.” It remains to be seen who will play these new characters at this stage.

Twisted Metal Season 2 plot: What might it be about?

Though there is no official synopsis, Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger that sets up Calypso’s deadly Twisted Metal tournament, something we expect to be the main plot point for the next season.

“I am hopeful it will surprise and delight those who saw the finale of Episode 10 and were like, ‘I want to see more of that in a tournament setting.’ My goal is to capture that.”

Smith has also talked about how excited he is to get all the characters—both new and old—together for the tournament so he can watch the various dynamics unfold. The upcoming season, according to the showrunner, would allow him to explore the Twisted Metal mythos “toy box.”

“He’s going to have some challenges come his way, that’s going to force his hand to be more of an adult and make some really tough decisions because you can’t be a milkman all your life,” Mackie said in an interview with Deadline on his hopes for John Doe’s arc in Season 2. We’ve witnessed the fate of milkmen. You must thus determine what is more important: maintaining your status as a milkman or maturing into an adult.

Mackie has already discussed his concepts for a possible Season 2. In an interview with NBC Insider, Mackie declared that “I’m not losing” the next bout and that he would like a rematch with his opponent, Sweet Tooth, who wears a clown mask.
