Hey, look! Tom Hardy is back! But there will be a lot of upheaval since his symbiotic companion is also doing well. Here is all we currently know about the release date of Venom 3, including storyline theories and cast updates.
Venom resides in the shadowiest part of the superhero universe, far from Marvel and its piercing-eyed Spider-Man. The antagonist of Spider-Man is set to wrap up his own trilogy this year, and he’s managed to do it all without the webslinger.
Eddie Brock and Venom have some unresolved business in this next threequel, following the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the very literal devastation of the second installment.
What will happen next, who will be joining the journey, and when will Venom 3 be released? We own all the solutions you require.
What is the Venom 3 release date?
Venom 3 will hit theaters worldwide on November 8, 2024.
The SAG-AFTRA strike prevented production from moving further, and the movie was initially scheduled to open on July 11, 2024. Principal filming for the picture started in June 2023.Tom Hardy announced on Instagram in November 2023 that the film’s production has restarted after the Hollywood strikes.
Venom 3 will be the last of Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man-related movies to be released in 2024. Madame Web is now showing in theaters, while Kraven the Hunter will debut on August 30, 2024. For further information on that one, see our review of Madame Web.
Venom 3 cast: Who’s returning, and are there any new characters?
Tom Hardy is currently the only returning cast member that has been confirmed for Venom 3, but we know he will be joined by a couple of new faces—Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
It’s possible that Stephen Graham could return as Detective Patrick Mulligan and, given his fate in the preceding movie, we think he will become Toxin. We will hopefully see Michelle Williams return, too, as we’d love to see more of her as She-Venom.
Regarding the comeback, Hardy told Digital Spy, “These things [usually] come in threes.” Everyone must act as if it was the last one if there is a new one, as they rely much on the success of each one, thus you can’t bank on them ever occurring again.
However, I believe it’s crucial if you approach anything with the belief that parts one, two, and three are the same—that is, the same plot, the same movie. in order to avoid surprising yourself by having to do a third task out of the blue. There must be some consistency.
Ted Lasso star Juno Temple has joined the cast, though her role is unknown at this point. Similarly, Chiwetel Ejiofor—whom most of you will know as Karl Mordo in Doctor Strange—is on board for Venom 3, but we are not sure what role he will play yet, either.
Venom 3: Is there a trailer?
There isn’t a trailer for Venom 3 yet, but we’ll be sure to include it once Sony gives fans a first look at Eddie Brock’s next adventure. Historically, the first trailer for Venom 2 arrived five months before the movie’s release date, so we can probably expect a Venom 3 trailer in June 2024.
Venom 3 plot: What will it be about?
Where Venom 3 will take Eddie Brock is unknown, though we wager the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home will factor into Tom Hardy’s third outing in some way.
After experiencing a brief time-travel to an other realm, we would consider it strange if this wasn’t at least alluded to in the next Venom film. But it’s definitely best not to get your hopes up for a Venom vs. Spider-Man matchup.
However, Eddie Brock appears to be wearing the same costume he used in the No Way Home post-credits sequence in a behind-the-scenes shot posted by actor Hardy on Instagram on March 1. That means that this new film will, at minimum, resume right after that.
In an interview with Screen Rant, director Andy Serkis said: “I know everyone is desperate for Venom to meet Spider-Man… But I think there’s real mileage in some of the other supervillains that reside in Ravencroft. There’s such fertile ground to be uncovered there. That would be the sandbox I’d be really interested in playing in. Who’s lurking in there that could break out?”
Who knows, maybe even Morbius will have some impact on this story (please, don’t).
