The Addams family is eerie, mysterious, and terrifying all at once. They’re altogether ominous. Additionally, Wednesday Addams, who is likely the most iconic member, is the subject of a Netflix series.
The series, which stars the future scream queen Jenna Ortega and is helmed by the macabre director Tim Burton, centers on the troubled girl Addams as she makes her way through a weird and unfamiliar high school. Here at Dexerto, we really liked the series; you can read our review here.
Most people seem to appreciate the series, so a second season should be coming soon. But what’s in store for us? Let’s explain, but first, be aware that this contains Wednesday Season 1 spoilers.
Wednesday Season 2: Has the show been renewed?
Yes, Netflix did confirm on January 6, 2023 that Wednesday has been renewed for a second season.
The majority of the Season 1 footage in the renewal announcement comes from Wednesday Addams actor Jenna Ortega, who acknowledges that she has been “mimicked millions of times across the internet.” This is a reference to the dance that went popular on TikTok and other social media platforms on Wednesday.
Since Amazon Prime and MGM announced a $8.5 billion merger last year, there was also early uncertainty about which streaming service would air the second season and whether or not Netflix would retain the rights to Wednesday. Still, an Indiewire story verified that the series will stay on Netflix.
Wednesday Season 2: Is there a release window?
At the time of writing, there is currently no official release window for Wednesday Season 2.
It was purported a few months ago by the producers that they were searching for fresh authors and locations for another season of filming. In response to the issue, actress Jenna Ortega told Variety that although “I have seen nothing and I know nothing [about season 2],” she was “waiting on it.” They seem to be just getting a writers’ room together, so perhaps soon.
Wednesday Season 2 trailer: Is there a trailer?
Since filming for Season 2 of Wednesday hasn’t started, there is no trailer or footage of a second season.
But the trailer for the first season is great, so feel free to watch that instead.
Wednesday Season 2 cast: Who is starring in the next season?
While there is currently no official cast list for Wednesday Season 2, we can likely expect these faces to appear again:

One star who appears to not be returning is Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe, perhaps due to the recent allegations held against him.
It’s uncertain if Season 2’s narrative will allow us to see Christina Ricci’s character, Marylin Thornhill, once more. Furthermore, death could not be the end at Nevermore—who knows? Gwendoline Christie’s character, LarissaWeems,s might make a comeback.
Season 2 will also feature a new character, although not much is known about them yet. The cast of the show talked about fan hypotheses about Season 2, including some involving new cast members, during the Netflix TUDUM event.
The characters Karloff, Wolfgang, and Annie will be introduced in Wednesday Season 2, according to What’s on Netflix. There will be a new love interest in the upcoming season, it was also announced. The show’s latest love interest is a “Hispanic/Latino teen character named Bruno.
Ortega revealed her desire to see Cousin It appear for Season 2, while her co-stars stated that they’d like to see Grandmama appear on the series, so we could imagine that the new role will be either of them.
It is also not yet clear if Tim Burton will return to direct some episodes again. Though we can imagine that the auteur would at least come back in some capacity.
As well as starring in the title role, Ortega will also be a producer for Season 2.
