The Avengers Movies Will Be Affected by The Marvels…But nobody is aware of how

The post-Endgame slate from Marvel Studios has made it more clear that although there is a strategy in place to bring the MCU to Avengers: Secret Wars, the specifics of that strategy haven’t quite been ironed out. You can’t convince me that anyone knows if Kang the Conqueror is actually alive or dead following the events of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, but that’s okay. Regardless, it seems like there’s a lot of “that’s the next guy’s problem to solve” as projects are passed from one team to the next, but it hasn’t been discussed… until now.

Director Nia DaCosta of The Marvels and executive producer Mary Livanos addressed the matter candidly in the most recent edition of Total Film. While they both acknowledge that The Marvels’ journey will inevitably lead to something that the Avengers will have to deal with, they also make it apparent that they are both unsure of what that would entail. And if those two—who are the experts on the movie—don’t know, it’s feasible that no one does.

The conclusion of The Marvels will see Kree villain Dar-Benn, played by Zawe Ashton, attempt to unleash the full potential of Kamala Khan’s bangle by reuniting it with its proper paired partner. “It definitely leads to plentiful opportunities for the future of the MCU, whatever the Avengers and Secret Wars teams may want to do with them,” said Livanos. Although no one has confirmed it as of yet, those bracelets appear to be the MCU’s take on the Quantum Bands and may even be linked to Kang, the main antagonist of the Multiverse Saga. Do they, though?

How The Marvels fits into the more extensive shared story of the Multiverse Saga is a question for [Marvel chief] Kevin Feige, according to DaCosta. “I have a lot of ideas. However, I have no idea what will happen in the Avengers films. I am aware that the individuals doing that watch the films and observe our actions. I want certain things to take place. I’m not sure, though. Therefore, Livanos stated, it is the “next guy’s” concern.

There is definitely danger afoot that might have an impact on the multiverse, according to Livanos, who explained that the narrative of “The Marvels” deals with certain changes in time and space. “Where it all goes is a bit of a spoiler, and how the Avengers movie will handle it all is now being worked out. However, we absolutely finish our characters in locations that provide a wealth of opportunities. Who is making sense of it all? There have been persistent rumours that Jeff Loveness, the writer of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, who was contracted to write Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, has subsequently departed the project after finishing a piece of the screenplay.
